Strength Through Sisterhood

About Mother Nation

Mother Nation was founded in 2013 by Norine Hill with a mission to deliver social and cultural healing services for Native women that nurture, create stability, and inspire growth through sisterhood. A trauma survivor herself, Norine recognized that no Seattle-based organization at the time focused exclusively on the needs of Native women. She rallied Elders in her community around a shared vision—one where the power of Native women is fully realized and strengthens thriving tribal communities.

Our Vision
Mother Nation envisions a future where healing, belonging, and cultural resilience restore balance for generations to come.

Our Mission
Mother Nation provides culturally grounded advocacy, mentorship, healing, and support that uplift the well-being and success of Native American women and families.

Today, Mother Nation is a Native-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering culturally informed healing services, advocacy, mentorship, and homelessness prevention across Washington State. We support Native and Indigenous women during times of transition—from chronic homelessness and gender-based violence to stable housing—by providing counseling, connection to social services, sisterhood, community, and spiritual support.

Our culturally informed healing services are guided by credentialed Native American Elders who integrate culture with clinical practice. We honor traditional Native medicines and teachings, including prayer, stories, song, ceremony, art, kinship, humor, laughter, food, and earth-based knowledge.

By acknowledging the past and reclaiming who we are as Native people, Indigenous sisters who participate in our programs transform their paths—stepping into leadership, healing, and wisdom rooted in ancestral strength.
