JOB SUMMARY

Mother Nation is an Indigenous led non-profit organization offering culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy, mentorship, homeless, and homelessness prevention case management, and support to MMIWP families’ unmet needs.  Our services celebrate and inspire the success of Native American women.  Mother Nation services are custom designed to honor the beauty and strength of Native women, with traditional practices, teachings and values built on the ancestral strength of each participant.  Mother Nation is committed to always provide culturally based traditional teachings throughout all service areas.

Mother Nation is active in supporting local grassroots leadership such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, Sister Native Homeless Providers, Tribes, and Non-Native agencies to build unity in providing safety to Indigenous women and homeless families.  Our goals are to ensure healing and wellness with cultural resilience offering quality service to change the dynamics of Native women and families from the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma.  Primary services are to stop the violence against Native women through culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy and homeless emergency support.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Manager will oversee and enhance Mother Nation’s visibility and engagement with our community, stakeholders, and the public. As part of our management team, this position involves managing our communication strategies, creating compelling content, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision: Supervise Communications Coordinator
  • Content Creation: Develop and manage content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and the organization’s website.
  • Social Media Management: Oversee and grow Mother Nation’s social media presence, including content scheduling, engagement, and analytics.
  • Public Relations: Coordinate media outreach, respond to media inquiries, and build relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Event Promotion: Assist in promoting and organizing events, workshops, and community activities.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all communications align with Mother Nation’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to support fundraising, advocacy, and program initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues is highly desirable.
  • Passionate about Mother Nation’s mission and values.
  • Creative and innovative thinker.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.
