JOB SUMMARY
Mother Nation is an Indigenous led non-profit organization offering culturally informed healing services, mobile advocacy, mentorship, homeless, and homelessness prevention case management and support to MMIWP families unmet needs. Our services celebrate and inspire the success of Native American women. All Yeha:wi Team members provide culturally based and survivor-centered advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and commercial sexual exploitation. Participants in need of cultural healing services can be referred to Mother Nation’s Cultural Services Team and Yeha:wi healing circles during their transition to new beginnings. All Mother Nation participants have ongoing full access to the spiritual support needed and guidance from our team of Elders.
The Yeha:wi Treatment Navigator helps to provide access to relatives to evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders (SUDS) with a focus on low-threshold access to medication for addiction treatment (MAT) and harm reduction. Navigator conducts outreach and identification of relatives, conducts initial brief assessments, introduces relatives to programs and services, facilitates appointments at outpatient clinics, serves as a resource and coach for their clients, and advocates for culture change in the hospital. They also assist with access to other services, such as mental health services, primary care, social services, and residential treatment facilities.
The Yeha:wi Treatment Navigator also collaborates with Mother Nation programming, first responders, schools, and other community partners to provide referral and transition services to relatives.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct program intake, program entry, and exits.
- Maintain accurate participant files with timely data collection and reporting.
- Provide culturally based survivor-centered advocacy, safety planning, identify community resources, information, and referrals to treatment, intensive outpatient services and/or detox.
- Work with King County legal advocates to guide survivors through criminal justice system, develop ongoing referral relationships with health, legal, and social service systems.
- Join Mother Nation Waantuwan Street Outreach team periodically conducting street outreach seeking homeless survivors who need service as required.
- Refer participant to Mother Nation Cultural Services Team, Yeha: wi healing circles, gathering of women sweats, and access to traditional healers and other spiritual needs as identified by survivors.
- Participate in all Mother Nation Staff Talking Circles, culturally based training, Staff community presentations as required.
- Work weekly at Spirit Journey House to support Case Manager in resident’s advocacy needs.
- Prepare check requests with supporting documentation following Mother Nation policy and procedures, with support by Yeha:wi Program Assistant.
- Collaborates with sister agencies in co-advocating needs of relatives
- Attend all ongoing training programs offered to enhance the effectiveness of the role.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess State Certification of 20 to 30 hours of domestic violence advocacy, sexual assault core advocacy, and commercial sexual exploitation advocacy preferred.
- Two years of direct experience working with survivors of multi-abuse trauma in Native American communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or equivalent experience in working with a Native American population of survivors of multi-abuse trauma.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated health and wellness lifestyle to withstand the emotional and physical challenges to offer a trauma-informed work environment for staff and participants.
- Knowledge of community and cultural healing services or traditional practices in Indigenous community.
- Have the confidence to handle emergency crisis situations.
- Skills in Microsoft Office Word Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent writing skills.
- Vehicle with valid WSDL and insurance; candidate must be able to travel independently between multiple work sites within a day.
